As Elke reflects on the highlights of her trip, a big thank you must be extended to everyone who supported her, from Lorraine, Peter Keeling, the Rotary Club of Naperville and everyone in Australia, to name just a few! Unfortunately the internet is down at the Community Centre, but as the rainy season comes to an end and the harvest is in full swing, Florian a German volunteer at Tiko updates us on the new school buildings and the learning opportunities available for adults, not to mention a visit from the Vice President and the arrival of a new goat.

This newsletter has been written by Anne, an Anglo‐Dutch volunteer, staying at Tiko for two months (from January 8 to March 4, 2010). Elke left on February 11 for her three‐month trip to Europe, USA and Australia. She is expected back at Tiko on May 5. We wish her a safe and fruitful trip, and more importantly, time to relax.

The Animals of Tikondane.
WE own three donkeys, but care for and also feed the Chief’s donkey. Our donkeys are hardworking members of the crew pulling our donkey cart. But they do eat a lot, so donations to help feed and house them are very welcome.
In the last newsletter we said we would send you all the photos in a separate email. So here they are with a few more as well. Elke has arrived in Australia and has been sitting here supervising especially with all the African names. Read more |
