There are 87 families attached to the Tikondane community, each of whom would have between three and nine of their own children and at least one orphan and a grandparent in their care. Tikondane’s aim is to find sponsors to support the families of all Tiko crew. Individual sponsorship is not encouraged and all monies received are shared in keeping with the local Zambian tradition. However, contact with the sponsored family is possible and the sponsor will receive updates at least once a year.
